A new inclusive pirate playground

In Lower Saxony, Germany, the pirate-themed Rhauderfehn inclusive playground recently opened its doors. With its meticulous design, quality manufacturing and thoughtful layout, it is setting the standard for inclusive play spaces. Come and visit this inspiring place!

Designed to welcome all children, whatever their age or ability, this 500 m² play area offers a multitude of stimulating activities. A true meeting point for families, it is accessible to all thanks to adapted paths and a floor surface designed to facilitate movement. The play structures have also been designed for easy access.

Set in the heart of nature, this playground invites everyone to share fun and convivial moments. A space where diversity is celebrated and where children and adults alike can meet in a welcoming and inclusive setting.

Main attraction: the Pirate Ship

Impossible to miss: with its impressive dimensions and bright yellow tube slide, the heart of the playground is dominated by a majestic pirate ship, model CI 15-1009-T01.

This 14-metre-long, 7-metre-wide ship is much more than just a game: it's an invitation to adventure! Emblazoned with the Rhauderfehn colors and crest, it can accommodate up to 50 children at a time. With its multiple walkways, slides and interactive areas, it becomes a veritable field of exploration, stimulating the imagination while fostering exchanges and socialization.

A pirate theme to stimulate the imagination

The choice of a pirate theme lends a truly immersive dimension to this playground, transforming each space into an adventure playground for young explorers. Aesthetic details, such as wood-effect HPL finishes, are not only attractive: they also offer enhanced weather resistance and simplify maintenance, ensuring the longevity of the whole.

Interactive panels, such as MO PL-04-0001, invite children to slip into the shoes of intrepid pirates, developing their creativity while enriching the play experience. Complementing the equipment, these narrative elements enhance immersion in this universe, creating a captivating environment where every child can let his or her imagination run free.

Games designed to stimulate the senses and motor skills

The playground isn't just about pirate adventure: it also features inclusive equipment designed to meet the needs of all children:

• A flush-mounted carousel, accessible to children in wheelchairs, encourages independence and promotes interaction.
• Swings with wrap-around seats, offering both comfort and safety, even for children with special needs.
• Playful, interactive panels, perfect for developing fine motor skills and reasoning, while adding a unique sensory dimension to the play experience.

Every element has been designed to create a space where everyone can flourish, whatever their level of ability.

A playground for everyone

This new playground is a perfect example of what a truly inclusive space can offer: a place where every child, regardless of ability, can have fun, learn and interact freely with others.

Every detail, from the equipment to the fittings, has been designed to eliminate barriers and enable everyone to participate fully. Here, there's room for everyone, whether to explore, exercise or simply share time with others.

By creating a welcoming and accessible environment, this playground becomes much more than just a play area: it's a place to learn about difference, to blossom through bonding, and to share experiences with others.

An environment conducive to relaxation and socializing

To allow children to recharge their batteries after a hard day's work, or to enjoy a moment of peace and quiet, rest areas have been carefully designed. These areas include benches, tables and shelters accessible to all, so that the children, as well as those accompanying them, can meet and talk in complete serenity.

Particularly attentive to the issue of inclusion, our designers have included tables adapted for wheelchair users, so that everyone can participate fully in these moments of conviviality.

In addition to encouraging rest, these areas reinforce the playground's social and welcoming character, making it a genuine meeting place for families.

Accessibility for inclusiveness

The inclusivity of this playground is based above all on accessibility thought out down to the smallest detail, in terms of both equipment and fittings. The shock-absorbing floor facilitates the movement of wheelchairs and strollers, while also playing a playful role. Its permeable, textured surface invites children to play directly on the ground, adding a new dimension to play.

Structures, such as the pirate ship, incorporate wide, gently sloping ramps, enabling all children, whatever their abilities, to take part in the adventures. What's more, colored surfacing not only ensures safety: it also delineates play areas in a visually appealing way, contributing to the overall experience.

Local collaboration for a sustainable project

This project was carried out in close collaboration with local companies specializing in landscaping and complementary installations. This partnership enabled the playground to integrate harmoniously into its natural environment, enhancing its visual appeal and sustainability.

By supporting the local economy while promoting regional know-how, this approach goes beyond creating a play area: it also contributes to a responsible, community-based approach.
